Mar. 20th, 2002 06:12 pm6 pm: I must be brain-damaged. I went out in the snow to buy a shelf, stopping at the office to pick up my keys so I could get back in. Then I bought the shelf and lugged it several blocks to find a station wagon cab. Why not wait until a roommate with a car got home? My upper arms are very sore from hugging wood for half an hour.
Hopefully the wood hasn't warped from snow melting on it. At least a shelf with dents in it is still a shelf.
The shelf is currently in the Ignominious Hallway Furniture Spot, where heavy things always spend a few hours on their way into our apartment, because somebody overestimates the ease of carrying the thing and gets tired of it ten feet from the door.
Also, despite being faced with the enormity (in both the old and new senses) of my CD collection all day, I stopped to buy four more discs on the way to the shelvery.
Dinner now. Then shelves.

Date: 2002-03-21 07:50 am (UTC)Music to my ears! I mean, abstractly. Lifting heavy things is good for you. Sorry to hear you had to do it alone, in the snow, with no car, though -- that rots. Let me know if you need to pick up more things -- Griselda can fit a startling amount of stuff if you flip the seats down.
Some days, I feel like the anti-cee: the muscular-ache bone-density fairy.
