Well, I'm in the office. Not working. I'm burning CDs, and dealing with
Mac problems that I would post about if I didn't think I'd found a way
around them. Plus, nobody is reading. This is nuts. No matter how ready
I think I am, it always takes much, much longer than I expect. At least
I won't be up all night.
It was brought to my attention recently that if you're doing something
for other people and they're *responding* but you still feel
underappreciated, you should probably stop. But the reason I feel
underappreciated at the moment is probably that I'm NOT DONE. Nobody is
going to thank me for a mix CD they haven't gotten yet.
I had serious reservations about making three discs this year. I'm sure
that will stretch some people's attention span (and some will ask to
only have one or two, which is fine). But it's a good sign that as I've
finalized each one, I've been like "THAT is the best of the three."
I know I promised CDs to some people last year who never got them.
That's lame of me. Mostly, though, I neglected to fuck up.
I've spent a lot of Christmas Eves this way, haven't I? It feels so
Jewish to be scheming away in the dark while the world celebrates. Ha
ha.
Also, I would like to note that there's really no kind of porn that can
be consumed while doctoring a mix CD, even without the issue of office
propriety being considered.
Finally, I give a moment of thanks to whatever bizarre deity decided
this morning that the soda machine would give credit for coins deposited
but also return those coins to the user. It has eaten my change three
times in the past few months; I got a delicious cranberry-apple revenge
on it this morning for one of those three, and I will have no
compunction about taking two more free drinks from it before I leave
tonight.
