That definitely seems to fall into the realm of "subtle joke", to me. It's like they combined

which seems like a charming example of the way they phrase things. I feel like there should be another obvious example of this exact kind of overlapping construction rolling off ly fingers right now, but of course I can't think of a damned thing. All I can think of is the clapping-game about Miss Susie and her steamboat:
Miss Susie had a steamboat, the steamboat had a bell; Miss Susie went to heaven and the steamboat went to HELL-o operator, give me number 9, and if you disconnect me, I'll kick you in the BEHIND the 'frigerator there was a piece of glass; Miss Susie sat upon it and it cut her big fat ASK me no more questions...
