[music] PORTASTATIC - Bright Ideas (Merge)

Poor Superchunk! I didn't realize until just now that I own all but two of their albums; it just always seemed there had to be more. And poor Portastatic! For every nonexistent album I subconsciously attributed to Superchunk, I imagined two more records by singer Mac McCaughan's side project Portastatic lurking in bins, and, you know, those things get dangerous in large groups when unsupervised.

Let me see... okay, according to Allmusic, Portastatic have fully eight albums out, the same as Superchunk. I guess I wasn't so wrong. They can't all be this good, can they? I would feel awfully foolish having missed out for so long if they were.
