A little tech-support entertainment for you:

A half-hour phone call between a DJ at WFMU and the customer service rep from the place fixing his computer. There are a few slightly off-color bits, but no dirty words. (It does get kind of dull toward the end.)

From [livejournal.com profile] moominmolly:

You ask me a question in comments, and I'll answer it and ask you one. Take my question away and post it in your journal, answer it here, or mull it secretly in your heart until the end of your days: whatever works for you.

Molly's question: do you think you'd ever opt to own a pet?

No, I don't think so. I'm embarrassed about it, because isn't everyone supposed to love animals? But I don't get the impression there's an overlap between the pets I'd be willing to give enough attention to and the pets who'd be willing to give enough attention to me.

That said, ever since playing in the AI game, I've wanted a house-embodied computer intelligence that communicates solely by displaying images, which is not much like a pet but maybe a little.

The Mitchells - "Sick" (mp3)

One of my favorite 'local' bands (they're from western MA). For a long time they threatened to put mp3s of old songs on their website; then they started a redesign and never finished, so it might be a while.

They've often sounded to me like the Bats (albeit with a Muppet-esque vocalist), but one of the biggest Bats fans I know seemed physically pained by watching them play. I'm not really selling this, am I? The thing I love about "Sick" is how playing fast is fun even when it's not a show of technical skill nor any kind of "I'm outta control!" signifier. The song just stays in constant motion.
