It seems like about every six months now, I get a horrible, horrible sore throat. It's usually preceded by a few hours of feeling feverish (though I rarely end up being around a thermometer to check) and lasts for a lot longer than I can cope with it-- several days? I'm not sure. Maybe even a week.

Gargling with salt water never helps, though I admit that I wonder whether I'm doing it wrong. Numbing lozenges (not Ricola drops; the stronger kind from a drugstore) gave some momentary relief last time, but not this time. Hot chocolate (both with milk and without) helped substantially but temporarily when I drank it last night, more than the same quantity of hot tea seemed to.

I suppose that the chance of a wonderful new sore-throat remedy having entered the world recently is relatively low. Still, better I should ask you all for help than that I simply accept I am doomed. Any suggestions?
