[mp3] 3D's
Mar. 21st, 2005 12:37 pmI used to think hitting that sour note at the end of every line was an intentional provocation, but now I wonder if they just thought it sounded cooler.
Their name outdated before they had recorded their first EP-- original members David Saunders, Denise Roughan and Dominic Stones added David Mitchell early on-- the 3D's always had a scuzzier, more fiendish sound than most of their labelmates on New Zealand's Flying Nun Records (home to wonderful but never-abrasive bands like the Bats, the Chills and the Able Tasmans). They also specialized in somewhat grotesque cartoon cover art, but, oddly, so did some of Flying Nun's most mild-mannered musicians, so who knows?
